This was a fascinating project for the US DoE. I designed and machined the entire system to inject coal/water slurries into a running Detroit Diesel 12V-149 engine. The engine is about half the size of a small locomotive engine….it pretty much filled the test cell. The design required no iteration, and the hardware performed flawlessly. Circa 1993. This was a feasibility research program.
