PROTOTYPE LOCOMOTIVE INTAKE PORT

Locomotive Intake Port1This is a “flow box” that I machined. A flow box is used to evaluate intake ports for flow coefficient, swirl, and tumble, prior to committing the port design to pre-production prototypes. This is a rather large flow box for a locomotive engine design (for reference, the milling cutter is 1″ diameter).
